Moraine Valley provides a Host Home Program on campus. No dormitory is available, but our International Student Housing Specialist offers full-time housing assistance services for international students. 


What Is Special?

Moraine Valley Community College is a comprehensive public institution enrolling approximately 281 international students from 45 countries and 17,000 total students. Located 20 kilometers southwest of beautiful and exciting downtown Chicago, the college has a scenic, peaceful campus in a convenient safe suburb. The college is connected to major highways and public transportation making it easy to visit the city and surrounding areas. Moraine Valley has excellent modern facilities, including technology center, fine and performing arts center, bookstore, library, internet caf?, restaurant, fitness center, gym, athletic fields and over 600 computers for student usage. Moraine Valley offers academic programs include the University Transfer associate degree, Career degree programs in over 70 subjects, and the Intensive English Language Programs. Many students take advantage of the university transfer program, completing the first two years of their four-year bachelors degree. Students in the University Transfer program transfer to excellent universities throughout the United States, and our transfer advising center provides all the support and assistance students need. Beyond academics, the college provides comprehensive support services for international students which include our airport arrival, International Student Orientation Program, housing assistance and host home program, academic and immigration and transfer advising, free tutoring, adjustment counseling and a variety of social and cultural activities. The college is the second largest community college in Illinois, but provides a welcoming friendly environment, with many student services and personal attention to students needs.


TOEFL scores and ESL Programs (English as a Second Language)

No TOEFL is required for Moraine Valley Community College admission. All students are tested in English upon arrival. For students who choose to take a TOEFL, a score of 230 on the Computer Based Test or 80 on the Internet Based Test must be submitted to waive the placement test and enroll directly in academic coursework.

Yes. The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is designed for students who want to improve their English skills in order to enroll in academic college classes.

Other Test Required for Admission:
The English placement test is required for all new students. A Math placement test is required for students who wish to register for math coursework.

Application Deadline:
Rolling admissions (no application deadline). We recommend that students apply two to six months before the start of a semester. Semesters begin in June, August and January.
